Hi guys i am for replacing my master cylinder some time soon because it loses a bit of fluid.
How much would i be looking at for a brand new master cylinder? Also i have access to U pull it and i had a look there at a Master Cylinder which seems to have not been leaking, now i pumped the pedal about 10 times to the floor and then i had a look and it had lost about 40% of Fluid so it was now sitting just above the "Min" line. When i pump the pedal like that would any master cylinder lose fluid? What are the best way to check to see if one has leaks or not? Also i am aware that after replacing the Master Cylinder i will have to Bleed the brakes !

Personally I would NOT buy a second hand one as they more than likely have been sitting too long unused and wouldn't be much better than the one you have. There is a Genuine one you can use but it is expensive at $270.00, maybe Repco or a brake place may be able to assist you? and yes, needs to be bled after replacing the M/Cyl. I would also flush you whole system and get some nice clean fluid like the pic in Asizzy's thread he linked to. |

Hey Smurf,
How come Ford charging that much for the Cylinder? The brand from Ford is PBR right? I got mine replaced and bleeded for less then what Ford charged just for the Cylinder

No, you will need to fit it first then bleed. Make sure you flush out all the OLD brake fluid though.
