Hi all,
Are there any mechanical experts here? A passenger opened my door today, but the wind through the door open and *bang* look what happened... the striker (picture 1) now hits the lower part of the square section (circled in red). How can I fix it? Attachment: Attachment: Attachment: Attachment:

Anyone know where the fault could be?
If I knew where the fault was maybe I could zoom in and fix it.

If it was pulled that hard back by the wind, then it would have bent the hinge mounts on the A pillar, maybe even the door. You can try adjusting the striker to match the door, but its only masking the problem. If you can see the A pillar is bent, you might be able to take off the door and hammer the mount back in, but you need to go slowly and be nice. I dont know if its the pic, but it looks like the upper hinge has been pulled outwards a bit. Lining up doors is a prick of a job tho, and might be best left to a panel beater. Then one must learn to hold on tightly to door handles in high winds. |

I'll give it a shot this weekend.
Yeah, scary thought. wind can stuff up your car door just like that.
