Hello, I have recently purchased an EL XR6 98 model.
I haven't had it all that long but apparently it has had a bit done to the engine, this is what I know. High compression pistons, Bigger valves, Different cam(Not sure to what one it is), Pace maker extractors, a full 3'' exhaust and the bloke also said "headwork" but am not sure to what extent.. We picked it up from the roadworthy at a mechanics and he was telling me that it is a real mean machine and that it would really benefit from a piggyback computer and a tune.. He said it would cost around $1500 for all that but i am thinking of doing something like that soon. Would you be able to help me out on what could be done and where in Melbourne would be a good choice? Thank you, Luke

Be better off getting a j3 dyno tune. Much cheaper .

But i heard they are not as good and i wouldn't get that much more power anyway...

Tbh I dont think you would get much more power from a aftermarket ecu either .
Money could be spent else where How does the car go? Does it feel like it has all those mods done to it ??

Oh yeah for sure, i drove a stock one not long ago and it just wasnt fun, This one would rape it! I love it..

That's good mate
Mine is going good. Except it's blown a head gasket . So changing that and installing stiffer springs and 1521a. If it goes good I'd just leave it . I can't see you making much more power with a tune. Maybe 10 -15 rwkw gain ?? Probably less . I have a haltech e6x which I'll need to install once the 1521a is in. It's $1000 for a tune . But ive got a base tune which I'll play around with and road tune myself .

Yea Im thinking I'll install the ecu and just get it dyno tuned . Less hassles that way . Then when its time for boost ecu is in, then it's just a matter of getting another dyno tune . The place I was quoted from is rather pricey so ive heard . So I should be able to get a cheaper price .
