Hi guys, I recently owned a 96 EF GLI which was in rough condition cosmetically however it had this sound that i loved, Everytime i would accelerate from a stop it would make this sound the only way i can describe it was like a mini turbo sound. I now own a 97 EL Futura and i would really love to get this sound back, does anyone have any ideas on what it could have been? cheers.

My wagon has a 'whistle' under heavy acceleration. Not sure of the exact cause but at a guess it's coming from fuel tank?

Lol at this thread..

My dad's EF XR6 has a f**k idler pulley, deadset sounds like it has a supercharger under the bonnet with the whine it gives off. Pulls it off well too as the whine seems to increase gradually with revs

Thats nothing, you should have heard my old EL XR, was cammed, and made the most awesome supercharger whine. Actually had to prove it was not blown. All the Sydney boys who attend Liverpool will know it.

Loved it. P-Plater took it from me. Bastard. I would have it again in a second.
