Hey Guys,

My engine just shat itself... http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... highlight= ... So obviously I need a new one.

Just wondering if anyone knows what modifications need to be done to an AU motor for it to fit into an EF. If it seems too hard then I'll either grab an EF/EL motor or just grab one of the ones off eBay that are ready to drop straight in; http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... &rd=1&rd=1

I know this is a topic that's probably been covered but my search thing is playing silly games and I'm too f**k p****d off right now to care about asking a question that's already been asked before.

Any help would be awesome, Thanks guys.

EDIT: Anyone bought one of the eBay motors? I'm sure I've read about a couple of guys that have.

i didnt check the ebay link lol. Yep go for that. While your changing your motor its the best time to upgrade!!! Au motors kick a***.

Smoother. Quiter. Stronger. I cannot even feel my au motor running even if im bouncing it off the limiter...

Yeh... sounds like a good deal. Cheapest I can get a 200thou EF motor here in S.A. is $350 complete. Then I'm stuck with basically the same motor as what I'm pulling out. Hardly seems worth it. I emailed the eBay seller asking about K's and testing etc. to see how low "low K's" are...

Got the a/c pump alternator. pwr steer etc...They told me it had roughly 50,000 on it... They say the engines they sell are generally 50-150k old...But who knows all i know is my au motor is beaut!!

Old motor is bone stock. I'm keeping the head as it's in good condition and I just had it shaved a few days ago so I should get some $$$ for it. The block is useless. Only good for scrap metal now.

They only have a 101 day warranty..

I paid $1400 for my Reco EF Engine Changeover.. probably a bit pricey but I like warranty :)

just a thought.

their modified au motors at 660? from memory? and their standard au motors are 330? or 440?

id assume youd be able to drop the sump and got a shop to cut and weld it for under 200 bucks? not sure, just a thought.

For $700 odd you would be able to buy an AU write off. Sell the trans $250 (quick sale). Then aim to sell another $300+ in parts and you have a cheap engine. Should be able to get the sump done for $100 odd.

It depends on how low K these motors are... If they are guaranteed less than like 100 000km motors then it may be worth it. Besides, you know how impatient I am Matt. Do you know how long it would take to find a nice low km AU write off worth $700 with an in tact front end???

Just got this email back from the eBay mob....

approx $260.00 freight to adelaide.we only purchase cars that have low to moderate k,s,being 80,000 to 175,000 k,s,we do not buy cabs etc.the sump will not fit from a ef,an au sump is different at the front,it also bolts to main caps & the alternator mounts to it ,there is no casting in the block to mount an alternator.the front of an au sump has to be modified to miss the k-frame,you have to use an au alt,use ef a/c compressor bracket adding spacers behind to to mount it out further.only gasket we replace is sump gasket.
