hey all
just wondered if anyone knows much about Molly pistons & rings? good quality, worth using etc? my engine builder reckons they're better than ACL ones on offer for my build

Do you mean molly as a brand name or moly as in moly coated rings?

i used ACL race series, bearings, rings and pistons in my rebuild and they are real solid and strong and alos lighter than your standarad ef/el piston. Unless you are going serious, ball breaking power there is no need. I had to replace mine because the top of the piston hit the bottom of the valve.....which equals nice big dent.

they would be about the same weight otherwise your crank balance would be out. ACL Hypo's and molly rings arnt bad, much of a muchness really, just make sure that they are gapped correctly, you will gain more power doing this than running a particular ring or brandname

Brett used ACL race series, bearings, rings and pistons when he rebuilt my dead engine and they are real solid and strong and alot lighter than your standarad ef/el piston or so he tells me. Unless you are going serious, ball breaking power there is no need.but i wanted my car to fly so had to replace mine because the top of the piston hit the bottom of the valve.....which equals nice big dent,because i was thrashing the guts out of my car and the timing chain broke.hence thats why i got Brett to do a fully balanced performance rebuild on my engine. sorry Andrew i just had to correct some things that you had written lol |

Pasma moly rings are used on forced induction, they are easy on bore and bead in easy...
