Is the DEV 4 a simular grind to the XR cam?
I thought it would have been more agressive?

From what I have seen on a dyno an XR6 cam in a modded ecu (unichip) and exhaust AU will give around 140rwkw. Thats about the same as you will get with the dev3hl or dev4 with exhaust but no head mods. I have heard of AU XR6's though with extractors and no ecu only getting 125-135 rwkw too though.

How? Its all about torque and power spread and the driver to a lesser extent. For example if you have 90% of your maximum torque available throughout over 50% of the rev range, the car will be MUCH quicker than one that has 90% of the torque available over 20% of the rev range but 20-30% more peak power. The problem is people think they need more power. Its not as simple as that. What he said!!! Stick the standard cam back in.The most imoportant thing is to maximise power down low not at the 500 rpm up top Im goin to test your theory. I have a new cam which gave me a extra 15hp and 12nm, will run down strip n see. Peaks at 5200rpm

correct
With a tuned N/A car, you want to be up in the revs as much as possible, as most the power is there.

How does the car feel to drive generally after the new cam ?
I threw an auto wade 2 in my tired manual EF, didn't dial it in or anything and a few weeks later ran a 14.8. Single spinner diff, launch at about 2000 rpm with a touch of wheelspin/chirp and not flat changing. I never ran it before the cam/extractors but that's about a 1 second improvement over stock times. I assume if you did 15 runs you can rule out being a s**t driver (or atleast one would hope) Was it a hotter day or something ? You have a big lunch just before hand ?
