just lately I've noticed my car takes alot more cranking over to fire up than usual, it just keeps turning over and eventually starts, sometimes it doesnt sound like its gonna fire at all. Its random though, sometimes doesnt happen at all.

Car is a EF 4L auto. Can anyone point me in the right direction of things to check, replace etc?

When its turning over, does it turn over at a normal speed? if its turning over slowly, your starter could be worn, which may explain why it takes longer to start

i've had the same problem as this to lately.

i have a new battery and when i put the battery voltage up on my radar detector it says the battery votl is at like 10.5.

then ill leave it dont touch a thign and then it will fire up right but the voltage when running is 12.7 not 13.5 like my mates.

but then other times starts up at 12 and is at 13.5 when running.

mrnasty...check if you have a bad earth and maybe check your battery terminal. Or as fordzatmyplace suggested...might be started motor if it turns over slowly.

kizzer...your alternator might be dying or the belt might not be tight enough and slipping or even a loose battery terminal or earth. give that a check

Could the sparks be dying or leads?

phong =P~

If it eventually starts you can probably rule out the battery. I'd be looking at the fuel pump.

Well the car decided not to start this morning, ended up being the terminals, bit dirty and loose. It kept just clicking like a dead battery, and all the fuses in the engine bay were buzzing due to the terminals contacting, then coming loose.

Gave the battery terminals a good clean and tightening up. Now she fires up beautifully like it used to!
