hey guys ive notice on the AU block theres no mounting points for the EL coil to go on just wondering what people did to mount the coil on the AU block. if any pics it would be a good help. thanks

Zip Ties, haha, nah just find a bolt you can hang it off, maybe mount it up to the injection manifold somewhere.

Mounting points are on the Lefthand Engine Mount. EF & AUI are the same coil, AUII/III is different and they mount different to the EF/AUI as well. Leads are different as well. |

I think I might try and drill/tap a thread somewhere on the intake side of block, enough so it holds the coil in place.

The mount is the intake side. Don't drill into the block as you will drill an oil gallery or a water jacket. If you want to, look at mounting the coil on the rocker cover or the Strut Tower.

there was a sensor or something held on by one bolt towards the back of the motor. don't know what the sensor is for but it looks like a temp sensor or something. im not sure about the au motors but I might use that bolt hole already there to mount the coil on just gotta drill out the hole in the bracket a little bit so the 10mm bolt fits through it.

That is where you knock sensor mounts. Think long and hard where you mount the coil as you will need to get to it if it fails, hence why mine in mounted on the rocker cover.

Sorry mate was reading in my head to mount an EF/AU Coil. You want to mount an EB/ED/EL Coil. Buy a new Bosch coil. It come with the connection both on the same side and an extension cable for your cable. Drill out the mounting plate and use the top bolt on your AC Compressor. This is what is done on our EL wagon, again also easy to get too if it fails. I will see if I can get a pic tomorrow.

Just a different tyype to the AU style. If your block is an AUI it will have the M12 x 1.5 thread already there. Just unscreww the long stud. If it is an AUII/III Block you will need to remove the stud and drill and tap the hole. |

The Ef/EL knock sensor uses a M12 x 1.5 thread. AUI knock sensor stud uses a M12 x 1.5 thread. the AUII/III uses a M10 thread. The EF/EL Knock sensor Is below,

aww nice now I know what ur talkin about. sorry didn't know what u meant but now I do thanks very helpful. so the original M10 thread hole that use to hold the AUII knock sensor i just drill that out to make it a M12 thread but only 1.5mm deep? also sorry to be a pain these motor aint no more than 450kgs are they just looking for an engine stand due to I sold my a few years back cause didn't think I would be needing it again but now I do.

M12 with 1.5 pitch. M12 come in different pitches 1.25, 1.5. 1.75. Just gently drill the block out with a 10.5 mm drill. You will feel when it bottoms out. When that happens, stop drilling. |
