Here are some pics of my recent mod to my airbox. I used hole saws to make holes in the front of the airbox. Then using the mesh from an old air filter I cut it into shape then stuck it down using silicone.
Very simple mod that costs pretty much nothing to do.

That looks great!! Far better than some of the others that I've seen. Top job.

looks nice indeed, but wouldn't it be sucking in hot engine bay air now?

now get three pipes as big as the holes, wack them thru the holes, and route them under your bumper to suck in cold air.

i cbf doin it with small holes, i a have a 3 inch pipe but cant route it freely, gotta get a 3 inch hole cut thru the chasis at an exhaust shop.

I thought so too but I'm happy to say that it actually sucks in cool air from around the left headlight.....I did a slight mod to the sheet metal around the top of the left headlight that allows for more air to pass into the engine bay towards the airbox (I'll try to post some pics tomorrow).

Why bother with the mesh? If the air's going into the top of the air filter box then it still has to go through the air filter.

The mesh gives it more of a finished look hence the reason I put the mesh on it.
