I unfortunately have not.
One thing I would seriously suggest is having a power balance test done. This narrows down which cylinder it is, and also tells you if it is a cylinder specific fault like an injector, as opposed to random cylinders misfiring due to something more general like a bad fuel pump or filter. I have replaced coils and spark plugs, intake manifold gasket.... Misfires on any car can be a pain in the a** to diagnose. I have narrowed it down to either a faulty injector on cyl 1, or the VCT is playing up and it may need a new solenoid or something like that. At the moment I am living with it because I have better things to spend money on right now A miss at idle isn't as bad as missing at higher rpm in my books Good luck! I've done A LOT of reading on this stuff particularly for the BA falcons, so if you need anything else let me know! Good luck champ! |

Update!
I am having a full wet/dry compression test done tomorrow by some mechanics. This is to rule out something REALLY crap like head gasket, piston rings, or valve problems. None of the other symptoms are there to support what might be something compression related but its good to rule it out anyway. If it comes back clear it must be timing or injector I'd have to say. Will report back soon! |

Coretex wrote: I had the car in at Ford, and they detected a slight misfire in Cyl 1, they also updated the ECU which seemed to make a bit of a different in the way it drove, but not in the way it idled. I had it in at CMI (work) the other day, and they looked at the intake manifold for me, they said it was loose, so they tightened it. I ducked into the workshop a few times to see how he was faring, it looks like a tough job, the ECU and the entire intake system came out. It was in pieces for about 7 hours. Anyway, it seems to have made it a bit better off the line, and it no longer seems to have any trouble starting (hot or cold) whereas before it was hard to start hot sometimes. Next thing I am thinking is the injector on Cyl 1 might be failing. Not really sure, but the Ford mechanic at work says he has more ideas, but at the moment I am out of money for this lol. I'd like it fixed before I decide to go for an exhaust, because I'm not sure how it will sound with a misfire... Any ideas from the geniuses? 7 hours to tighten manifold bolts? I've done head replacements on Barra engines in less time then that. On an XR6 Turbo ford allow an extra hour or so on every service which allows for intake and exhaust manifold bolts to be retensioned, and its EASILY achievable in that time. |

They did the whole gasket replacement and spark plugs.
I don't know if they were working on it for the whole time but that's how long it was in the bay |

as long as they didnt charge you more than 2 hours for that work it doesnt really matter.

Compression test all clear.
200 in four cyl, 195 in one, and 205 in another. Pretty darn good really. So, next I'm thinking a faulty injector as when the revs kick up the misfire disappears which says to me it might be an injector not functioning properly under low fuel pressure, but copes when the fuel pressure is higher Thoughts? |

any news on this?
ive had a slight .. wouldn't call it a miss fire in my engine for roughly 4 years, I just put it down to harmonics / twin cam over lap, as it only flicks the rpm a little at idle, never had any power issues

No new news...
Getting Xforce headers and cat put in soon to go with the xforce cat back that's already there. I'm not sure if it will make any difference to this particular issue, but it will make it go faster I think I may get the injector replaced in the same trip. See if that makes a difference. If that doesn't fix it... it might have to be left alone >_> But what you are getting sounds quite similar. When you get the quick dips in rpm on idle, can you see it on the tach? |

yea I do notice it on the tacho it just jumps up and down a little, worse when its extremely cold, but still feel it when the engine has done a highway run
as I said, its hasn't really been an issue, ive replaced nearly everything as you have, including my turbo (which was due anyway) I have not done the injectors yet. it has been there since when I got the car at 90,000k and the car is now at 200,000, it has not gotten worse or better in that time to indicate or point a finger at, fuel consumption is still roughly 650k's to a tank on the highway I have to be honest I gave up on spending lots of money trying to find the issue, there has been no fault codes or engine faults.

Yeah same, I did notice on the tacho once but after I replaced something I couldn't see the needle move anymore. I can still feel it though.
Yeah, it's not really an actual issue, more of an annoyance It is definitely worse when it's cold My car is at 173,000 and I got the car when it was at 168000, I haven't had it a really long time. Love it though! |

Hey guys,
Replaced the injector on the culprit cylinder to no avail. Pretty much given up now, it doesn't bother me much anymore. On the plus side I got my full XForce exhaust system done, Extractors, Cat & Catback. Sounds awesomeeeeee |
