can someone help me here,

my car sounds like all six cylinders are firing all at once when you start it up, only goes smooth(ish) when you rev it and hold it at around 2750 for 10 seconds. also, i filled up the coolant tank yesterday, and its already bone dry  . and there is also steam and/or blue smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe, and im not talking about a little bit, im talking cubic metres of s**t pouring out :? . my mate reckons the roughness is the timing chain showong signs its about to go, and my other mate reckons the oil rings have had it.

and my dad thinks i may have a cracked head/block.

does anyone here have any ideas?

any help would be appreciated.

cheers

what about the engine roughness?

im talking about big thud, thud, thud instead of smoothness, and when i put it in gear the revs dont even register on the tacho.

its a low pitch knock, and you could say it sounds muffled.

Sounds Terminal. Check for a specialtst ford wrecker who will supply and install plus give warranty (they exist in the Eastern States, you may be lucky) I would expect you will pay about $700 all up BUT you want warranty which hopefully will get you a tested motor .Or watch classifieds for a write off or rusted car - which you can start and hopefully find someone to test and swap motor - consider keeping the Gearbox. Good Luck

Well, at this stage, if you keep driving it, its gonna seize up. (is this the holden or ford?) Well whichever, I would deem it inoperational and advise you to remove the head and have a look if anything's cracked or if your gaskets just gone etc and look at the engines condition.
