Hi all,
Ive got a slight problem with my nl fairlane 6cyl, when im slowing down to a stop or just slowing down i get this weird vibration throughout the car, but im not pressing on the brakes so its not the discs or the pads, Its more annoying then anything but im not sure if its doing any damage. Just like to know if anyone has had a similar problem, and how it may be fixed? Any help would be great Thanks Guys Lowlane98 |

If it vibrates at a stop with the car in drive then it will be engine mounts. Drivers side goes first due to the heat from the exhaust manifold.

Long ALLOY driveshaft has weights to balance it... Sometimes these get bent or out of balance for whatever reason (there's a lot of reasons - Someone will tell you a few...)
Try putting in N when slowing down. Vibration still there? Does vibration change with road speed or engine speed? Etc etc etc? |

Thanks for the replies guys,
What would i be looking for in the engine mount a crack or something like that? I havnt tyred it in N, but so far it does it in road speed in the 20-60km range whilst slowing down and often vibrates on take off up to 60km after 60km it goes away until i slow down again. Could it be the Torque Converter? Cheers |

Try putting it into N and see... You can then rev engine whilst just gliding along and see if vibration follows road speed, engine, what?.... Ah well, luck be with you.

Have you lowered the car, or has the SLS crapped out?
It could be bad diff pinion angle. |

How do you change the angle of the pinion ?

Yeah i have lowered my car i dumped it on ultra lows and gt sport shocks.
Thought it may also be the negitive camber on the front but i got that fixed and is still there I also tryed it in N and when i brake or slow down it doesnt vibrate, only when im in drive, so that makes me think it may now be a transmission problem. Also even when driving at 40km it vibrates untill you go faster it just vibrates. Its really weird Thanks guys |

Definitely the pinion angle then.
You'll need to get yourself some tickford upper arms to fix it, and dont forget to grab the diff snout bump stop too or you'll be smashing the tailshaft into the trans tunnel constantly. |

Is the vibration constant or does it decrease as the car slows down.

At 40km an hour its at its worst and then slowly decreases as i slow to a complete stop, but if i slowly creep up to 40 is starts to vibrate again.
