While doing my pacemaker conversion over the chrissy break, I found the my cat was empty. I think most of ended up in the main muffler.
Anyway I want to get a hi-flow, can anyone suggest a brand and approx. cost |

i think if u take off the cat the O2 sensor will not work properly which means the engine doesnt know whether or not to run leaner or richer... and may also use more fuel... i also rekn hi flow cats arnt all they crack up to be... just get regular one heaps cheaper wont make that much difference...

One word "price", Zoom lots of years ago compare factory cats; Commonwhore and high performance Japcrap, against aftermarket cats and they proved price comes over performance. If it would save 50c per car they would do it. Some factory Cats might be good but a lot aren't, as for not running a cat will stuff with the O2 sensor, that is crap considering it is before the cat. EPA will whip your a*** with a big fine if they find a cats been tampered with i.e. pipe through it, plus the fact most healthy running unleaded cars end up having a brown pipe instead of black, that makes it dead easy to spot without a gas analyser.

Take away the cat and you have an exhaust the same as pre unleaded, you will still have back pressure, not that you really need it for the O2 sensor. A good high flow cat doesn't cause that much more back pressure. Apparently if a good condition Falcon cat is widened to suit larger pipe size it flows well, but without someone showing a flow bench results, noise and dyno results this is all just word of mouth.

mate people should think before they type
"you don't need a cat" would be the stupidist thing i have ever heard,, 3 years in jail and/or a $10 000 fine f**k that all cars built from 1986 onwards are legally required to have a catalytic converter. END OF STORY

what a wonderfull world we live in amaxing isnt it....... the only usefull thing on a holden is something that deals with the by-product of it's running...... putting said product on a ford makes it perform better...... besides which, i think its only fair considering how many holdens run ford diffs, gearboxes, bonnets, mirrors, etc.....
