Grab a multimeter, and starting checking for the appropriate voltages at the sensors AND at the ecu. No point in 'guessing' that voltages werent right. Values should be in your workshop manual
Could be simple s**t like faulty coolant temp sensor or even like mentioned a slipping clutch |

sure the f@rt exhaust wasn't you mark?
have to take me for a spin some time. Never had a ride in the devel - missed out on a ride in pyro too Mainly want to compare to my cars manual to see how it performs

I reckon it's your tune mark! f**k the chip off and put it back to the standard ecu and i bet the car will be back to it's normal self!!!!@@!
If u think tis the clutch let me drive it and ill tell u if the clutch is slipping or not.. |

If u think tis the clutch let me drive it and ill tell u if the clutch is slipping or not.. I could try removing the chip, since the DEV 5 was designed to run on a stock ECU. But I'm more worried about the fact the base idle has been reset to factory, and may now be a little retarded, bearing in mind it was found to be advanced before the tune. f**k if I know...

why would idle settings have any effect on performance at wide open throttle?
check sensors, continuity in the wiring, compression, check fuel flow, and being an EL you can never rule out the dizzy playing up. But you could always disconnect the chip to see if it runs any better i guess.... |

If I change into 1st from 2nd, or pull out of 2nd into neutral when slowing to a stop at the lights ...the revs will quite often drop, then surge up and hold at 1100 rpm for a few seconds when I take it out of gear, then it slowly returns to idle ...it also happens when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd. Thats exactly how mine behaves, but is deliberate. Ive got the ISC completely blocked off but still connected cause its f**k. Ive also got the screw turned in far enough to hold a nice idle, but the side effect is it sits at 1100rpm when coming to a stop then settles at 800rpm So your isc is rooted, OR you could wind back the throttle body screw a bit and see if that stops the rev surge EDIT: spelling Last edited by FordFairmont on Sun May 04, 2008 5:40 pm, edited 3 times in total. |

Maybe it's the dizzy timing I mean ...f**k knows.
But the chip does have the custom AFR's from the dyno tune etc ...dunno if the car will actually run WORSE without the chip now.

Only one way to find out.
When did it run a 14.5? Without the chip yeah?

You may also find that Terry put a 'reducer' (brass drilled plug) in your ISC.

From memory, this was the only way he could tune the chip and get the idle speed down - due to the large cam. A lot was blamed on that cam.
Your issues may be totally different - just theories based on what happened to me. |
