Finally got around to getting a run on the dyno, with thanks to Leigh Holman at SVS for holding the dyno day.
In the end, my car came out with 168.4 hp (125.7 kw) and 700.4 nm @ the wheels!! I was a bit sus of the dyno running slightly high, but a friend on his commodore got about 120 kw @tw with a full exhaust and such, so his is where we expected!! My Dynograph <a href="http://img343.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dyno160720052mo.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img343.imageshack.us/img343/9947/dyno160720052mo.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" /></a> My car about to go for glory!! <a href="http://img191.imageshack.us/my.php?image=indynocell0ra.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/5352/indynocell0ra.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" /></a> |

I was impressed with it, but i will wait till i go on a dyno dynamics one before i say this is what i actually have.
But it was nice to have more power than some VN V8 commos and stuff on the day!! |

it's always nice to know what you have, but that does seem overly high for a simple cat and nothing els.
i know my reading is overly high aswell all i have is pacemakers and 2.5 system with an SS inductions kit. so 135rwkw is too high. would be interesting to see the same cars on different dynos |

It is an auto
Maybe that had something to do with 700 nm of torque!! |

Maybe that had something to do with 700 nm of torque!! Why's the roque figure so high? I mean doesn't the Typhoon only put out 550nm? Or is the torque gear ratio dependent or something? |

Unless you did the run in 3rd gear (1:1 ratio) with a 1:1 diff your never going to get engine torque and torque at the wheels the same (assuming 100% efficiency). Gear ratios multiply torque, that's why installing a higher diff ratio (3.08 --> 3.45) will improve acceleration.

Does anyone know the maths to work out the flywheel Nm from treads? An old bloke once went on about example 1711 / 4.11(diff ratio) = flywheel Nm..... but Ive since been told thats a little off so what is the real way of doing it?

Thats an impresive figure for the mods.
My 5 speed made 122rwkw with only a cat back, and au xr8 snorkel, with a standard air filter.

Thanks hornet and nanna's ED
Like i said, i am not going to take it as gospel just yet, although i do know that it is quick on the street (if i had a strip to take it to i would ) Only time another falcon (ED/EF/AU) has beaten me was when the other EF was starting half a car in front just rolling, and he ended up quarter of a car ahead by 60. As was said, driveline multiplies torque. But it is nice to be able to say i have 700nm!! Might have to try a set of pacies next, then when i get the head gasket changed, another cam *might* (although proly wont) fall back in place of the original!! |

Difficult to calculate without making assumptions regardling drivetrain loss. http://www.mustangsandmore.com/ubb/DanJ ... eVsHP.html ATQ = FWTQ * CEFFGR * TRGR * FDGR - DLOSS where: ATQ = axle torque FWTQ = flywheel (or flexplate) torque CEFFGR = torque converter effective torque multiplication (=1 for manual) TRGR = transmission gear ratio (e.g. 3 for a 3:1 ratio) FDGR = final drive gear ratio DLOSS = drivetrain torque losses (due to friction in transmission, rear end, wheel bearings, torque converter slippage, etc.) So, rearrange the foumula to get FWTQ as the calculated variable, make your own assumptions regarding DLOSS and you'll be somewhere around the mark.
