Ok well the last few weeks has seen a few mods done the the old EF.
Started with extractors (pacies 4499's) followed by a hiflo cat to my 2.5" system i had already. next was a ported and polished head. and then for the cam 1636 that was ok to install apart from the seals that were in around the shims but i got it all back together in the end. The first time i drove it it rattled for a little longer than normal but this is to be expected i guess. next morning i was on my way to work and holy crap did it rattle and only ran on 4 or 5 cylinders for about 8ks then it was smooth as silk for the last 500m to my work. the car also liked to stall and carry on like a peice of poo so while at work i reset the ecu to see if it helped at all not really. next day rattled again very badly 5 cyl again stalling all the time next day same again. any ideas? It seems to have settled now and it runs ok still stalls from time to time but its driveable. so pretty much what im looking to find out is what the rattle may have been it was the same as the rattle that we all get when we start up until oil pressure is up only a bit louder. also should it be stalling and carrying on still after a week? what could i possibly look at to stop it from stalling as often? Would a chip from chiptorque be any help to my situation? Im pretty much way out of my comfort zone from here on in so any help would be super. Oh yeah the car goes pretty hard now even with the 3.08 diff and auto box. What to do next hmmmmm. Cheers Marchy |

did u remove the plastic guides from the lifters when u put the lifters back it. i take it u used a re-grind just a tought

1 did u fit a second set of shims
2 did u removethe retainer ring, plastic oring that sits around the lifter. if u did both of these things it should run alright

yeah did both of those things. do the o-rings need to be replaced or is it ok to leave them out?
