i have a problem my 95 ef is sligly leaking on the side of the head it has 300km on it do i do the head gasket and do a cam and head work or do i put in a xr6 motor in it

Depends on how much can you get an XR6 motor for? They are only 7kw more powerful than a standard i6 and you would be looking at paying between $400-$800 for one with good K's and a warranty.
To do a basic head gasket changeover yourself you are looking at between $200-$300 including gaskets and basic headwork, depending on the condition of your head. Add to that the extra $$$$'s for whatever head work you want done, i.e. porting and polishing, plus a cam which is going to set you back another $200-$300.

i can get an xr6 for 400 with 150 on it but i dont know if i want to spend money on a 300km car thats takes a little bit of oil

Well if you can get a genuine XR6 motor with only 150 000km for $400 then go for it! No point spending the same amount to fix up a motor with twice the km's. Engine changeover is easy...

machanic by trade i am going to do the head gasket on the tickford motor i think i have never come across and xr6 motor with head gasket promblems but i should do it while i am there
