hey, my mate has a stock eb 6 cyl no mods whatsoever, i have a ed 6cyl classic no mods whatsoever,
his leaves mine for dead? i have drivin his and i can feel that his accelerator pedal is alot more stiffer than mine? his revs harder than mine when we are both on econ or power? i have just put new air filter, spark plugs, spark plug leads, no difference, infact just revs a hell of alot higher now in netural, i havent had it serviced/tuned since i have had it, i had bought it off my uncle, and he cant remember when he got it serviced, my ed has done 210000ks and my mates done low to mid 300000, does anyone know what it could be? i noticed how responsive his car is when you put your foot down, with mine if i floor it nothing really happens!! slowly gets up to speed, a friend was saying something about getting the accelerator cable & kickdown cable adjusted and a tune up would fix this, is this true? any suggestions or knowledge would be appreciated thanks in advance |

stretched accelerator cable would be my guess....stops the car from revving out and it will pick up revs slower, change the cable before you spend anymore money on it and see if that helps

easy as piss. you have to peel the carpet up a little bit and unbolt the two 12mm bolts and then pop round undo clip of throttle body (don't loose it lol) and then pull from the cabin and it is out... installation is the op from removal.

this may have something to do with it... a hard life will allow some ponies to escape.

yeah, ill probably start with the accelerator cable, then maybe a service/tune.. my uncle looked after and drove the car like a grandma so i wouldn't think it would have lost ponies? or can you just loose that from not servicing the car?

Is the timing out?
Also, i've been told the e-series 4L actually go harder/make more hp when they're on their way out. Go out with a bang, so to speak.

i could be wrong but I thought I read in a Jim Mock article a while ago that the ED's were actualy detuned compared to the EB's.
Like VN series 2 is detuned VN series one, something about having them rev less harder to lengthen the life of the engine. |

jim mock needs a hanky to catch the crap that falls from his mouth IMHO
timing and accel cable will probably be the issue |

i dont know how to tell if the timing is out, and i dont have a timing light, what i can tell ya is that i changed, plugs and leads, and i took off the dizzy cap to get the leads on it was a nightmare to get it on and off, so i have probably stuffed something in doing that maybe? i know it idles around 900, 1000rpm in all gears, netural and park fluctuates between 1200 and 1600rpm..
i need to change the oil aswell, so ill probably start with, oil & filter, fuel filter and accel cable before i book it in for a tune, would this be the way to go? |
