Hey everyone, im absolutely bored s**t and i want something that is a medium priced and high value mod.

So far the car is a 6cylinder 97 EL with:
-Pacies (to suit the supercharger that used to be fitted)
-2.5 inch exhaust, high flow cat with only one muffler and one cannon
-Wade 1521a (massive lift) which is doing very well considering the car is not chipped.
-SprintGas of the mixer varierty, having its own ecu and all.
-Cylinder compressions; all around the 152psi mark.
-The air box has a large induction from the wheel well so their is very, very minimal restriction at wide open throttle!

Now i am considering sourcing a powerdyne supercharger (again) as that was alot of fun, but i have no idea how i will get this to run on lpg.
-One way would be to integrate an electronic clutch onto the sc so that is only runs on petrol.

But i am wondering if anyone has any better ideas for new mods.
I want to keep the thing legal and efficient, atm im getting 560km's of normal mixed driving :)

Spending around the $1k limit atm

I'd go for lower diff gears, great bang for buck mod, especially in the autos.

Maybe some headwork? port n polish? if you decide not to re-fit a s/c up the compression for the lpg. Should give you good power gains.

Hmm, i like the diff gear idea.

Whats a set of 4.11 diff gears worth, since i already have 3.65's (standard fairmont) i dont just wanna goto 3.9, i'd hate to feel i didnt go the "whole hog" lol.

And they are easily replaced in a few hours / how long would it take a mechanic?

diff gear sets are pretty cheap on ebay, around 130-150 new i think.

3:65's standard in a EL, are you sure? Even the ghias only have 3:45's standard.

auto = 4.11's

buy the gears off ebay for $150, then get quotes for someone to install it, as you could possibly screw your diff if not done properly.

Get new bearings fitted at the same time. Also if you dont have LSD already, its defintely worth spending the extra money getting that fitted too, cause with the new ratio wheelspin will be a problem :)

Nah it won't have 3.65 there's no such ratio afaik. 3.7's are the closest to that which is a skyline ratio. If its stock then there has only been three ratios across all the e-series again ill say afaik:

3.08

3.23

3.45

Correct me if im wrong though.

haha your right about the 3.45 gears, i had them confused :)

Thanks alot for the advice, i had contemplated them before, if you have any other enhancements then let me know and i might get onto those aswell :)

my 5 speed EA had a 2.92 ratio from factory lol

nothing wrong with 3.45's, you wont notice a huge diffence to 3.89's and 4.11's, especially with the i6's inherent wide torque range in the middle, especially with those mods.

Ive got 3.89's and highly recomend them. any second hand skyline set will whine and make a bit of noise, as they are form old r31 models, and generally are in average nick. you can buy brand new cogs on ebay any ratio form a certain supplier, but you are looking at 450 bucks upfront, and around 500 dollars to fit at a profesional diff joint.

another option? get a tune. if its a hybrid motor then i dont know whats your best bet, but if its got an au motor in it, a capa flash unit and custom tune should come in somewhere around a grand. a tune with those mods will net impressive power and get better economy. no point replacing 3.45's with 3.89's/4.11's if you still have a tune on the list of things to do.

hmm so no diff ratios, no fun.
Dont want to get the thing tuned, i dont know how much of it can be tuned using the sprintgas ecu :)
