Oh well if you like it then leave it like it is. If you get the fake tip then cops will be none the wiser when driving past you. Unless they pull you over and actually look under the car!

legal or not, how safe is it?
Are you worried about exhaust fumes in the cabin when you get stuck in traffic (that is after all why these exhaust setups are illegal)? It might not be a big deal as yours is cut pretty far back, but I would still be worried.

Mmmm My old EA had the same on it, VERY loud but it does drone abit.
Ever heard an EA MPFI Running with EB CFI headers and nothing from the headers back When the taxi wrote off my EA and i took the headers off thats what it ran on as i drove it up the towtruck, loudest thing ive EVER heard, sounded like those old GT Roadsters with the big fkn engine hanging out the front and headers that go down the side skirts ... TRY IT |

I suppose theres no need to have a pipe out the back, but what looks wierd, is it legal? na its not legal, adr rules state that the exhaust must protrude past the last unwelded seem of the car ie. rear bar. thats either correct or very close to it So how do you explain side pipes then...They're legal in some cars.

taken from
http://www.dpi.wa.gov.au/licensing/myve ... haust.html Modified exhaust systems may be fitted to passenger vehicles provided the following conditions are met : 1. The system is efficient. 2. The exhaust system does not pass closer than 25mm to fuel tanks or the body floor. 3. The system does not foul the body work or limit axle travel. 4. No part of the system projects below the rim lower edge 5. The system terminates behind the last body panel. 6. Systems on the left hand side of the vehicle do not deflect gases directly to the left. 7. The noise level of the modified system must not exceed the noise level of the manufacturer’s original system by a noticeable amount. 8. Side exhaust systems (sometimes called lake pipes) are not permitted. 9. The system must be effectively supported and must be free from cracks and leaks. 10. Where the vehicle is subject to ADR 27A - Emission Control. Extractors may be fitted, but the features of the original manifold must be maintained (i.e.. hot air transfer tube, manifold to air connection). Vehicles subject to unleaded fuel control emissions (ADR 37) must remain as specified by vehicle manufacturer.. 11. Noise level will be the most important factor in assessing any exhaust system. Close attention will be given to this factor during examinations and in the on-road situation. < prevoius page
