My 97 XH ute is missing at idle problem only occuring sometime it also stalls when pulling up the the traffic lights.
I replaced plugs, leads and distributer rotor.
Can anyone help me?

how do you get the fault code of the ecu without a computer?

getting codes out of the EEC-V is found under the resources tab up the top, then click the tech library and it'll be in the EF/EL section I'd guess...

Have you set the base idle on the vehicle? Have you set the base timing? Does the coil fire a HEI test plug? Plenty of fuel (injectors clean, fuel filter clean, pump is healthy)?

I get the feeling there is something that can cause the auto to hold the gear too low into the revs and cause it to stall if you jump on the brakes... Maybe I'm thinking of base idle/timing... Can't quite remember it now...

Check the MAP sensor and make sure the hose is connected properly and is in good condition.
