Hi,

My car has trouble starting in hot weather. If I hit the area next to my left knee on the centre console it fixes the problem(temporarily).

What is that solenoid called so I can grt it replaced?

Thanks.

That would be the inhibitor switch on the side of the gearbox

If this is on the inside, then your BEM needs fixing or replacement. The Relay inside for the starter inhibit gets dry joints and goes open circuit.

Its cheaper to just fix it yourself. Know anyone thats great with a soldering iron?

If you can move the inhibitor switch from inside the cab you probably have bigger problems. Is it cranking or not ? My au doesn't like starting in hot weather with low fuel. If it's not cranking it could have something to do with the bem, which is under the dash on the left hand side of the steering wheel.

Thanks for your replies so far.

What actually needs to be repaired? Has anyone got any links or a guide on how to do this.

I have a copy of the Haynes repair manual and I'm pretty handy with a set of tools.

BEM if EF/L or a smartlock Module if EB2/D. Replace it and hope or buy a bypass module.
