have a listen around the lefthand rear wheel, the fuel pump is behind it.
You will get a better idea with the wheel off.

Thanks all for the advice, souinds for sure like it's the fuel pump. Just wonder why the guy at midas thought it sounded 'normal'? I guess i'll get it changed and hope the noise goes away.... just thinking as I type, could it be a restriction in the flow somewhere (maybe filter) making the pump work harder?

As with most pumps if you block the discharge hose or starve them they do sound differant, so yes it would be worth the effort to change the filter, no promises though.
