I wasn't sure to post this here or under ECU/ignition. The problem sits with the idle and power under load of my I6 EF's engine. It feels like I'm one cylinder short like when you forget to connect one lead when replacing your spark plugs...
This all happend about 2 weeks ago and since I've replace my plugs, fuel filter, fuel pump (died 1 month ago), injectors where replaced on the weekend as a last resort. I haven't replaced the leads only because I've checked each plug and they all have spark. So I'm guessing that the leads and the coil pack is fine. What else could make it miss? The idle is rough in time if that makes sence as though it's just one cylinder down. It's lacking power all through the rev range (as you would with 5 cylinders) and the fuel consumption seems up a bit too. What could it be? Any ideas would be much appreciated. Have you had this problem before?

if doesnt seem to be electrically based...check the timing, fuel/air mix, and your fuelling system.. pump, injectors etc etc??
i'm sure others will probably have a better idea of whats going on though...

I would look at the ISC first ,the O2 sensor, then do a diagnostic, its here in the docos section.

Thanks for that, what is the ISC? I had a look at the diag process in the tech docs but it is missing the picture of the diag socket. Does anyone have this picture? Do I just ground a test lamp and probe the pin that is pictured on the picture? Thanks again

coil packs are very common at s**t themselfs on this model
to have a coil pack it must have a edis ignition system check for codes if a coil has failed there will be a code also codes can be lodged if its a ht lead best way to see if which cylinder in missing is to unplug one injector at a time while the engine is idleing and listen for any change in the running of the engine |

Thanks for that XR8MAN but like wobbo asks, how do you check the codes, I've checked the tech doco section but it only says to probe the 3rd pin from the left (from memory) do I use ground and a test light to probe or is there a 2nd pin I am to use? The picture isn't up in the doc.
