Car started to have low idle, nearly stalling at the lights.
Ran a test and got the code 172. Anyone know what this code means. It was a found on engine running test. Cheers Luke. |

Same on EL's.
172= test condition (running) Heated oxygen sensor indicates lean condition. Make sure its not an old fault by erasing the fault codes then run again. |

Done 2000km since oxy sensor replaced and exhaust tip is clean as a whistle, no black stuff. car is not running rich anymore.
Getting 780Km on the highway now( trip computer) with a full tank. Before the trip meter use to only go up to about 600km with a full tank. Cheers Luke......... |

Raises good point.
When code 172 is displayed - EEC is seeing a lean condition from the HEGO. It will then richen the mixture up to try and get a more appropriate fuel mixture. When it makes it as rich as it can, and still seeing lean condition from HEGO - it cracks the s**t and throws up fault 172. So basically, when EEC says "lean condition on HEGO" - it means the car will be running rich.. if that makes sense??
