Hi all, new to this forum and am about to rip the last of my hair out trying to figure out my problem. I have a Fairmont Ghia EBII with 3.9 mpfi and am having overheating probs. I have replaced the thermostat, radiator cap, flushed system, replaced water pump and am still having the prob. Everything runs fine for a while and then it starts to get hot when i stop and start, and after it gets really hot and the engine is turned of it just seems to bubble and boil. Any help would be appreciated

what year model is it?
an eb2 with a 3.9 is not right,,should be a four litre, anyway,,your getting air bubbles in the system, when it is warm get a rag and squeeze the top and bottom hoses,,you should get the air out.

hmm....well those particular engine a renown for over heating alot, especially on long drives n crusies. there may not be anything actually wrong with ur engine, but it just depends on how long it takes to heat up....but yeh they have terrible overheating control.

The early overhead cam sixes are notorious for having core sand left in the block from casting. This will eventually work its way into the rad causing the probs you are describing.

I have to be the odd one out here - I had my EB for 7 years. After the third year the radiator gave way, and I bought a brand new one. Since then, I never had it overheat once. The temp only ever went up to half at worst.
Check your clutch fan too - might be slipping too much. Check your AC core for leaves etc. A lot of crap gets caught between the cores (Leaves, feathers, budgies etc)
