Hey guys, it's come to my attention that my driving style has somehow reduced the amount of tread left on my tyres, particularily on the rear
 No idea how that could've happened...
Anyways, now that im in the market for some new rubber, i was curious as to what would be the widest i could go on a stock 15" rim? 205/65's just don't grip the way i'd like em to. Can i squeeze in 235/55's or something like that? Obviously i'd like to keep the speedo as accurate and so i'll have a look around to see if i can find a profile that is the same/very close in rolling diameter as the setup i have now. This isn't really something i know a whole lot about, any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers.

I think the stock 15" rim is 7.5inch across.. you could safely get away with 225/60/15. I got a set on mine I was finding the cost of a tyre under a 60 profile on a 15inch rim was pretty steep. and under a 60 profile the speedo needs recalibaration. 225/60/15 is nice and fat and sticky.. get a better quality tyre instead of just a wider one..
I'm running yokohama c.drives I race on em and drive on em monday to friday.. awesome tyre.. they handle turn 1 at eastern creek at 195kays very well.. and still a quiet tyre on the road..

I got mine at narellan but probably a bit far for you.. I'll try and fine out where..
BTW mine were $150 a corner with nitrogen fill.

atm i'm running madison 225/60R15's.... pretty damn good IMO for $98 each

Cheers guys, had a budget of $150/corner in mind... any more and i'll just replace the rears as the front end still holds the road fairly well... any understeer is deliberatly induced and usually at slow speeds, and is easily countered with power/handbrake

mainly as the tyre heats up the tyre pressure will be more constant with nitrogen, as opposed the normal air where the pressure will increase and heat increases.

The stock EF/EL rims are 15x6! I recently put 215's on mine and regret it. There is so much flex in the sidewalls as they really bulge out. handling is affected badly. Dont do it

correct me if i am wrong, but isnt an efficient way of doing it to put the front wheels on the back, then put the 2 new wheels on the front.
Thats just what i have been told, unless of course u have a front wheel drive, however thats unlikely for most people here. |

if they are 15" alloys they will be 15x6.5 or if they are steel rims they will be 15x6 either way 215-60-15 is prob ur best option will keep speedo pretty accurate and the prices on 215s are alot better than 225s try the
Yokohama C-Drive or the Toyo TPG if u dont mind spending a bit of coin, these 2 are prob the 2 best tyres in that size on the market atm. and to answer the question bout rotating the bad tyres to the back that only works if u end up with a tyre of larger width or same width on the back. as it is illegal to have the smaller tyres on the back and the bigger ones on the front

Yeah i reccommend you go the C Drives as well! They are a great performance tyre. Bit pricey but hey you get what you pay for.

i had 255/45/17"tyres on the back of mine a while ago, looked s**t, expensive skids though. $250 a corner...

yeah i used to have set of 255-45-17s on the back of mine they were yokohama cause thats where i worked at the time. got them cheap but they retailed at something like $500 and only lasted me 15000km due to excess wheel spin.......dont no why...hahahaha
