Hi I'm just wondering I'm planning on rebuilding my old 3.9ltr engine and I'm just wondering what would be the best way to go about it as in getting new pistons and getting engine acid dipped and all that or just pulling it apart giving it a clean up and getting all New gaskets then putting it all back together it Will be a slow project as I am only 18 and still looking for a mechanic apprenticship cause cars are everything to me haha and engines are just amazing

3.9s are s**t. If you are going to rebuild a 4L. Do a AU 4L

A mate of mine rebuilt his EF 6 to stock (or close to) specs and it destroyed other e series. Power difference wouldn't be too drastic imo it's more the difference of a fresh motor ie they dont rev like a slug, are a lot tighter, throw you back in your seat more that kinda thing which makes the car way quicker. Then there's the AU motor option from ebay or a wrecker. I got one for with all accessories/manifolds (140 000k's) for $200 and they weren't in short supply. and you also get the good belt setup although you'll need some things like thermofans, ef/el acc cable/peda/ to accommodate this but it's much better than the clutch fan and the bbm adds some mild power. |

We'll once I put the 4ltr engine in my car I put two thermo fans in my car hooked up to a thermatic switch and a but transmission cooler and I got a stage 3 shift kit full exhaust system and I bigger throttle body and stuff that's why I didn't wanna put a au engine in cause I have already switched engines and wiring look once if I just did the 3.9 got bigger pistons and s**t I would be able to use same wiring harness and computer

What? Use the AU block. Bolt on your manifolds etc.

So can I still use the mpfi manifold off my eb engine and all the I can't use a distributor though can I cause its individual coils on the au engine isn't it?? So wouldn't that mean New ecu and engine bay wiring loom or I can use the old one??
