I had the same problem with my old ed originally, it was fine, it blew the head gasket so I fitted a new head and within a day it was blowing huge amounts of smoke, especially just after start up..
is it as bad as this??? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YigTWRwMdJ4 |

To the OP Looks like it dude. Thats got to suck. Would have cost you less initially just replacing the whole engine. |

Can be done but its not cheap to do it legally. I dont know SA laws with road worthy's i.e every year like NSW or just when you re-register or buy a car. I think the sump or crossmember needs to be altered for the Au engine to fit

an au engine is almost a direct fit, no big sump mods like when fitting one to ef or el.
but if your not keen on modifying a few things to fit the au engine go for a el engine and fit all the accessories from the eb motor, manifold, front pullies, power steer pump, alt, water pump and ac pump. |

Based on that fact my Mum is the best around! |
