They are basically identical but for possibly better wheels on EL. There are numerous invisible improvements like thicker window glass on the el.
I have an two EF's one a fairmont and the only thing I dislike really is the gross alloys.

The major thing to look out for is if the headgasket has been replaced. Because it is inevitible for most e-series falcons to blow the headgasket, which leads to over heating, powerloss etc. and will cost you close to $1000 if you get a mechanic to do it.

Oh and the EF looks better :wink: Both models can swap grilles with the Fairlanes.

i also like the ef (cause thats wot i got) but also much prefer coil pack ignition cause personally i think its more responsive as my old mans got an el and its a fraction less responsive in my opionion

yes but the el chrome trims and grill look far better!! :wink:

i spose it comes down to which you would change easier.

wheels or chromey bits. I'd go an EL personally. newer. as long as it has had the head gasket done though

I own an EL so being biased i say EL :P

One thing though, if you have future plans to do up the car which requires timing to be retarded or advanced...then i suggest the EL cause they are easier to work with then the EFs.
phong =P~
