Hey guys, yeah I know you're thinking another 'which exhaust should i buy thread' lol but this one is abit diff.

I want my 6cyl EF GLi to sound as close to a V8 as it possibly can. What you think will get me there? (Besides dropping a V8 in the engine bay) I want it to burble and rumble as much as possible...but hopefully without too much drone on the freeway. No mods have been done except EL GT snorkel and a Shiftkits.com.au Fully Adjustable Shift kit (which I don't think either will affect exhaust note)

I had a look through Lukey's website...the EL Falcon one does sound pretty good. But I really love the bottom-most VS SS 5.0litre sound file. I would like it to sound like that as much as possible (even though I know it won't get really close).

Recommend an exhaust shop near Broady too if possible :-D

Depends if you want it to sound like a new v8 quite with a little bit of growl or old school Lumpy and loud
2 1/2 straight through no muffler and a big lumpy cam .
It will be loud but still never sound as good as a well tuned v8 IMHO

Yeah I'm really after alot of the lumpyness. Doesn't have to break the sound barrier though lol. No muffler will be illegally loud? How bout that setup on the EL on lukey's Hear the Growl site, without the muffler (or reso, wateva its got)?

Also with the ALTED Stage 3...that will make it necessary to have a higher stall converter ( which I really cannot afford atm) wont it?

Put a hole in your centre muffler, makes one hell of a mise and SORT of sounds like a lumpy 8

Will a new exhaust affect my (my dads) RACV premium?

that has nothing to do with the exhaust system.

the lumpyness comes from long duration camshafts.

I didn't know that lol. I thought it was all exhaust. Cheers for that.

U think 2.5" Lukey, 1 muffler, and a Stage 2 ALTED could give me what I'm after?

Also, will the exhaust mod affect my RACV premium u think?

Thats a nice idle! how does it sound while accelerating tho? Does it still lump?

With ALTED Stage 3...I read that will need to get a bigger stall converter. What would happen if I dont?

It was lumpy accelerating today when I had way too much ignition advance ;)

But normally no, it is smooth when its reving, except it has a different note at WOT, it really really growls, sounds like it goes fast anyway.
