G'day

Just been looking around and found this http://www.caradvice.com.au/113493/2011 ... -mid-year/

this should hopefully keep the I6 alive for longer.

Wont keep it alive any longer, Ford Aus will just transfer it over to the FWD V6 falcon in a few years time.

The guy that mentioned diesel was right anyway. With all the technology they have, This new LPG falcon still can't match my 23 year old mechanicaly injected 3 tonne 4x4 for fuel economy.
Let alone even come close to ANY of the current common rail diesel powered 4x4s or sedans.

VW have released a duel cab ute in both 2x4 and 4x4 that makes 400nm from 1500rpm and returns 9.5L /100km city and 6.8L highway with only 203g/Km CO2

Quote:
Expect the EcoLPi to deliver figures around 12.7-13.1 litres/100km and 204-211g/km.

So much for LPG being the 'green' option.

Put the VW engine in something like a falcon with decent aero and less weight then a D/cab ute and imagine what can be done.

So i scrap the 4x4 and buy this new falcon. How many KM do i have to drive before the pollution breaks even, that is manufacturing pollution output + tail pipe pollution VS tail pipe pollution of the old car over the same years. AND I can't take my family on any decent camping trips.

I'll do the planet a favour and keep running my old 4x4.

I'd have one of these, in a G6E, thanks very much :D

Curious to know how they are going to package the tank... Behind the rear seat in the boot, old skool style... in the wheel well, like the current one (leaving the spare on the boot floor) or if they'll actually put the tank in place of where the petrol tank would go?

I'm presuming its going to be straight gas, like the current one, and not a duelie like the commodore LPG?

It IS going to be dedicated gas.

That gives good scope for re-positioning and repackaging the tank to maintain the boot space and and split-fold. Here's hoping its done right :-D

I like it, it seems like a good setup, but I still fail to see why Ford arent offering a system like this on it's turbo and V8 models, and even FPV vehicles, surely you'd still be able to get good power on them too.
