i bought that part when i did my gas conversion on the EL
it was an AU part number and i had to redrill the mounting holes to fit - i dunno if they gave me the wrong one for the E series but it was only a two minute job and it fitted perfectly - the only headfuk is that you are raising the ISC and it does hit the bonnet insulation |

yep had to redrill the holes on mine too.
2 minute job anyway. did you notice a difference tiny56? would you like to share an engine bay pic? |

What is the isc, and where is it?
My idle is super crap after the head gasket replacement.

My idle is super crap after the head gasket replacement. on the pic above follow the hose from the pcv valve on the rocker cover(next to the oil filler at the front) to the silver solenoid on the inlet manifold - thats it you can take it off and clean the ports with some carby cleaner or crc as they can get clogged and shaft can stick |

If your head gasked had died you may well have a stuffed HEGO sensor.. coolant stuffs them.

Um, so where is that? What does it do? How much? Etc. Thanks. And i'll have a look at my isc now thanks tiny. EDIT: See attached picture. Is it the thing circled orange, or brown? And do I have to disconnect the battery to pull them off? Or just make sure care is off? Do I unscrew from the inlet itself, or just pull the plug off? Also what is the black knob circled yellow? Thanks

hey dude the hego sensor or heated exhaust gas oxygen sensor (or O2 sensor if its not heated) detects the presence of oxygen in the exhaust and produces a variable voltage according to the amount of oxygen detected.. that way the ecu can adjust the mixture of fuel injected to the engine (usually our buckets of poo run rich under wide open throttle) its bolted into the exhaust manifold on the drivers side and has from memory three wires
in one plug that hooks onto the suspension tower.

brown circled is the Idle speed controller assembly. the black thing I *think is a breather type thing* correct me If I am wrong. the other part I believe to be the throttle position sensor. Be safe and unhook the battery, or if you want to be slack just keep it switched off and no loads on the power there.
have you run any diagnostics on the car yet? I did rectify an idle issue on an eb 3.9 mpi car.. it had a lot of blow by build-up and carbon/oil etc which made the car run horrible to the extent that it would not idle without the accelerator pressed. sprayed carbie cleaner (nulon) into the throttle body with the intake piping removed and revved the car up whilst doing it for a while then it ran sweet... then i pulled the car apart so that is redundant...

Haven't run diagnostics, don't have the thing that makes it easy to do that.
Thanks for the posts sam, anyone else sprayed carbie cleaner in the throttle body?

OH duh I just realised you are in Brisbane, do you go on any cruises with FF or fordmods e series guys? I usually have a diag box in my car for stuffing around with..
