show me a mechanic who has on hand 30000 worth of diagnostic tools (not counting special model specific tools) who works for $66 an hour
in fact, show me any mechanic who only charges $66 an hour retail

Had trouble with the EA not starting, I was ill at the time, so took it to fraud and the service department said "the STARTER MOTOR WAS TURNING THE MOTOR BACKWARDS" and it cost $300 just to put it onto their computer to trace the fault.

Ended up in my attempt to trace fault I had swapped leads 2&4 at dizzy and there was 1 lead breaking down intermittant.

Total cost including parts from local bloke with none of fords test gear, $56.

Never did get an explanation as to how a starter could turn an engine "over backwards". Maybe their test gear finds faults that good mechanics and common sense can't!

seems a bit steep but i think the coils are about $100 each so that would leave about 3 hours to fit...

I had 6 coils changed on a ba ute to see if they would help the rough idle.My mechanic said they were 70 dollars each ,took him half an hour to do the job.Turned out the ute was just stuffed.

BTW my previous post was the truth and I actually told them that I might have swapped leads.

When I picked it up and was told what the cost would be I asked the "technician" if he had checked the leads and static timing.

Reply " What, are you a smart a***. If you know so much why didn't you fix it yourself". My reply is unprintable on this site.

I can't name the dealership but my address will give a hint. Yes they were certain that the starter was turning motor backwards, obviously the bendix was locked up as well. LOL

Grumbles
