You would find that If you took it to a ford dealer it would have been about $300+ for the coilpack. The part probably cost about $120 from bursons or repco. And of course labour to fit it but its more of a pain in the a** than skillful fit.

ba's don't have a coilpack as such, just a 'coil' on each plug.

kelli - welcome! plenty of smart guys on here to help you out.

during the service did they replace or check plugs. shouldn't have replaced as meant to do 150000km in the six (i changed mine at 105000) but they may have checked them and may have damaged the coils pulling them off. i would've given them the ol 'it was fine when i brought it in' story.

glad to see it is back up and running smooth. i'll make sure i'm careful with mine anytime i'm having a fiddle as thats a cost i could do without!

I had my old wagon serviced at ford and it cost me $800 with new front brakes at only 50k
they charged me $250 each for POS discs.
I later replaced with DBA drilled and slotted for less than the standard ford soft crap.
I no longer go anywhere near them except for odd spares.

if you just bought the car theres a good chance a used car yard got water under the top cover, which will cause the coils to short out, and not always straight away.

haha and i thought where i worked rips ppl off.. best thing u can do is buy a gregories manual or something of similar quality and do those sorts of things yourself.. anyone who can weild a spanner can change plugs and that and yeah dont go through ford for parts.. repco or bursons. welsome to the fordmods too!!!!!!
