be careful what coolant u use too, as some are not made for copper core radiators, and since the most common today is alloy u may grab the wrong type by accident. just a caution.

go easy on the gasket goo too to much will oose out the side into all the water gallary's and pump impeler...

They free up a few horse power and have a 2 year warranty from Davies Craig. Run very well, but had it for a bit over a year so I'll tell ya 6 years down the track if it's reliable lol.I'm going for a powerful N/A 6 and anywhere there is power to be freed up I will do, hoping to crack 190 rw/kw, it's been done before and I will get there if it kills me. $300 is alot compared to the mechanical pumps though.

but this will kind of defeat the purpose of a sepentine setup, regardless you still have to have the waterpump hooked up, its not a boxcar where you can drop a blet if you wish. one goes all go.

Take the mechanical pumps internals out, less risistance on the belt setup. But as I said big expense 4 a small power gain.

Well I went to Q Ford Springwood today to find out how much. And the guy gave me strange looks right away, asking if I knew how much they were, etc.
He said something like $148 for the pump, then $30 something to put the pulley on too! Where can I get a genuine jobbie at a reasonable bloody price?

My genuine pump works fine, the reason why I'd liek to buy a new one is because the outlet is very rough and Bridgestone B Select service came to the same conclusion as me (buy a new one). Could I just take my old one out, and use an angle grinder to get a nice smooth surface again? Or would this degrade the structural integrity of the outlet?

hey mate,
if i were you i'd pop over to supercheap and grab one of their waterpumps that they sell. i've used them before and they've been top quality. i wouldnt reccommend angle grinding the outlet on your current pump. they all corode a bit over time so you're better of just getting a replacement one. i honestly wouldnt bother with genuine as ford are an absolute rip off with some parts. i rang them this morning for a clutch fork and they wanted $160. THen i rang mal wood and i got one for $35 including postage. i think the supercheap are the powermax brand and they work well for me.

And also while I have this topic, apparantly I'll be needing a new brake booster soon. While quite expensive new, I found this one on ebay, would it be a safe bet?

mate thats your master cylinder thats leaking (not the booster). there is usually a seal where the master cylinder connects to your brake booster. mine was leaking a while back so i just bought a new master cylinder on ebay for cheap (only buy brand new).
