Stop the presses fuel hits $1.40 in Sydney. Well F**k me!! I wish we could get fuel for $1.40. Even gas out here is 75c or thereabouts!!!
I am gunna start an argument here but shouldn't people in the city ie. those who have access to public transport, pay more for fuel. This would encourage them to use public transport. Out in the scrub we don't have busses/trams/trains that can take us to work so we have no choice but to drive. Waddaya think? Am I nuts or just insane?

that is da most sensible thing i ever heard... us people in the country get slugged sooo bad for fuel prices and yet it is our only means of transport. Even if it is to get to the big cities

apparantly if everyone in the country were to not to buy a drop of fuel for 1 day, oil companies would lose something like $4.65 billion.
Im sure if the whole country went on strike and didnt buy fuel, they would soon drop prices

Im sure if the whole country went on strike and didnt buy fuel, they would soon drop prices untill the next day when every one realises they need petrol and the oil companies would get the money anyway. |

By the looks of your ute i'd say your insane..It costs money to get the petrol to people in the bush and someone has to pay for that and guess who that is...or did you think the petrol fairies dropped it to the servos at night

It don't cost 15 to 20 cents a litre to transport. But wot I was gettingat is that people in the city that dont use public transport should subsidise delivery outside the city by paying higher prices because they choose to choke up the roads in the city by driving their cars

Thats been obvious for years.
Remember the knobshiner in Canberra a few years ago that wnted to sue the farmers because they had a dust storm in the city. We shouldve charged him for the topsoil. Some people have no NFI

This arguement is so true, in the cities, we have heaps of ways to travel around, and in the country, you would be lucky to have a train come once a day (depending where you live). The fuel prices are just disgracefull, the price just reflects our s**t tax, like cigarettes for example, I know afew people that work for BATA, and they say, that about $8 of the cost of a packet of cigarettes is pure government tax. I'm not too up to date on the petrol taxing, but it wouldnt be far off. Another thing that s**t me to tears, after paying somuch tax, I STILL have potholes to avoid on the main road here (King Georges Road).
