So i have a t5 conversion lined up, its out of a NF fairlane. Im just wondering if their is anything else required to fit this to an ED, the conversion includes

T5 Manual transmission
Bell housing
Flywheel
Clutch plate and pressure plate
Clutch cable
Peddel box
peddels
Gear chage stick, knob and boot
tail shaft
brackets
Manual Centre Console trims

Also, would it be possible for a mechanic to fit this and how much do you think they would charge?
The only reason im not putting it in my EF is because i dont want it to be off the road for months.
Thanks guys.

So its out of an NF and going into an ED right? Then you will need to get a ED pedal box and gear stick boot for the centre console, as they are not the same in the ED and NF. The NF is long wheel base like the wagons so the drive shaft is useless to you. But you can use the auto one from the ED your putting it into anyway so no problems there.

You did not list a thrust bearing for the clutch in your list. I would buy these new anyways because it would be silly to use a second hand bearing.

What are you doing about the auto ECU? have you got a manual one or are you doing the resistor trick?

Another thing you may already know but ill ask anyway, is that V8 and I6 bell housings are not the same. Is the T5 you have out of an 8 or a 6 and is it going into the same.

the convo is from a I6 and i'll probably just do the resistor trick for starters, how much would i be looking at for a thrust bearing? also does anyone have any ideas on how much it would cost to have this installed? or are any fordmodders in North QLD willing to help out (for a carton and cash of course)

Did you nget this off flea bay? Saw one on there for a while?
Thrust bearings aren't much mabe $30.00 you will also need a spigot bearing this fits into the flywheel.
Have you done anything like this before although relatively simple job if you don't know what you are doing forget about it. I may be wrong here but you may have to remove dash to get the npedal box in.
Good luck i will probably undertake this one day.

My NF is manual, but I converted it

You are right though, it has to be a converted NF for sure.

Yes the dash needs to be removed to change the pedal box.

Well, my mechanical knowledge streches about as far as replacing the head gasket and timing chain. I dont know if i'll be able to do it myself, which is why I asked if anyone was willing to help out, or if anyone knew a mechanic in FNQ who could fit this for a reasonable price. :)

Umm, have you searched through the forum at all? There is a number of threads that have shown a manual conversion from start to finnish. And I am sure that if you know how to change a head gasket you can convert your ED to manual with a little reading.

I know my build thread has plenty of information on how I converted my NF to manual.

viewtopic.php?f=53&t=73383

And there is always this thread

fordmods-technical-documents-diy-f38/auto-to-manual-conversion-guide-t42420.html

Have a look through those mate.
