Hey guys,
i need to get some new plugs and leads soon.. i have heard alot of ppl talking bout ngk spark plugs. are they worth all the hype and if so can someone tell me what is so good bout them for the price. also can i get some advice on some new leads that will be of good quality to match the plugs if i go with them.. Cheers

Not sure on the plugs but i remeber a few posts on these awhile back if u do a search.
As far as leads the ones used in the BA XR6T work a treat

They are OK but I got about 70,000kms out of them I replaced them with cheaper AC Delco's cannot tell any performance difference. I think they are overpriced for what you get.

Imo just buy NGK's normal plugs..

what about a good spark plug for a GAS car, im running ngk "R" and they arnt very good, they seem to be burnt.

The R at the end means they are restricted
get the NGK but not NGKR

Yeah fair enuf thanx guys.
i didnt think that a spark plug could be worth the price tag unless i was running some amazingly hi perfomance car. Big Kev do you know what brand the leads are on the XR6T?? anyone have any preference or know of any good leads?? Thanx

you mihgt have a bit of trouble getting the leads off an xr6t to fit since they are all coil over plug type ignition
so they dont actually have leads.

Yeah if you get the NGK iridiums or the Ford standard XR6T ones you will need new leads, as the iridiums have a thinner end on them. I found that out once i replaced mine over.
Getting a set of magnecor leads soon thou. But i noticed the difference from the normal plugs to the iridiums not massive but yer nicer response

You should not need new leads for the NGK Iridiums if you get the ones for your vehicle, I sure didn't (also didn't when I fitted them to my motorbike). Maybe if you fit the XR6T ones you might as they are for a different vehicle! |

Yeah the ones i have are the Ford XR6T plugs, and the old leads i have now definately dont fit 100% correctly. Im sure other plugs are different to these as i put them side by side and thier was a big difference in the thickness of the end bit of the plugs

i bought ngk iridiums, at $13 per plug they would wanna last a hell of a long time.
i also bought the bosch pack of leads to suit my car.

That's a fair bit under RRP. NGK say 120,000km's they should last. I remove mine every service and clean them with circuit board cleaner stuff. |

yeah that is trade price to me, but considering in my old xf i paid something around that sort of money for a whole pack, they'd wanna last.
i give mine a scuff with real fine sand paper and then thinners with a toothbrush every service.
