Yeah EL the Haynes manual i have covers falcon/fairlane 1994-1998 so it really should have a note in the ignitimn timing section that the procedure differs from ED onwards. I still cant get over the difference in the power. When i bought the car just on 4 years ago it had the same power it did yesterday. One thing i did notice when i replaced the timing chain, timing chain guides and harmonic balancer is that prior to removing the old chain the dizzy sprocket was out by one tooth, im assuming it was like that from factory. Its nothing major unless the dizzy couldnt spin enough to correct it. So maybe it was timed wrong from birth or a Ford sevice personel stuffed up god knows when.
