Hi,

I have a NL fairlane and I am finding as I slow down or stop it is trying to stall out, it will sometimes periodically do it while stopped but not as much,

as the RPM drops of the engine it will drop very close to stalling speed then the computer will compensate and give it a kick to bring the rpm back up.

it does seem to vibrate a little at idle too but I have not been able to source the reason for that.

Regards

Barry

Not really, can mean a few things, need something new in the ignition system or your torque converter is on its way out.

if the torque converter is stuffed they should pick that up when they do the transmission service on Thursday shouldn't they?

It is going in because it starts to bang gears when it warms up.

Reset base idle, or maybe a slight vacuum leak

the issue is the transmission. there is a failed solenoid that sits behind the oil pump in the transmission. they said that can cause this. it is not working properly. the guy at the shop said it is responsible for engaging a clutch. when I explained what it was doing to him, (he could not get it to do it)

it will thump when trying to change gears (he said he would adjust the bands too when he replaces it)
it will drop out of gear sometimes when it is driving,
it will sometimes shudder the car when it is changing gears (he said this is because the clutch is locking in when it shouldn't.
it will also cause the engine to try to stall out when the car slows down to a stop.

he has quoted me $650 to do it.

so I will get him to fix it next week.

hopfully that is all that goes wrong.

Regards

Barry
