what makes you think you can emit gasses you shouldn't? .. what right do you have to do this? .. do you know what pollution is? .. some fool said bring back leaded fuel engines, i thought in this day and age peole would have become aware that pollution and lead emissions are not desirable
you can only s**t in your own nest for so long before your own s**t will kill you - get a brain, get a cat back on the car |

yeah dude, since unleaded fuel was introduced in the usa, they have looked into ditching that because of the nasty s**t that emits and the acid rain it causes.

My dad got an exhaust fitted on his unleded v6 narvara. It doesn't have cats the exhaust shop claims its legal as it's a commercial vehicle or something. ben My Falcon is a commercial vehicle ... but it still needs to run a cat ... I am hazarding a guess that the Navara runs a cat as part of the factory exhaust headers (some vehicles have them this way now) ... and hence there isn't one in the rest of the exhaust system.

My Suggestion, Install a High Flow Cat...
If you really Don't want a Cat, Buy a pre 84 car. Not having a Cat will give you too much Rasp in my opinion.. Also reguarding Pollution, Yeah I agree about harmfull gasses being bad. But the Global warming is also due to the Earth slightly getting closer to the sun due to the variation in our orbit. We will heat up, Ice caps melt, Less Land to live on and then POW, A meteor or the earths orbit realigning causes and ICE AGE and then we are back to Square one. SIMPLE

I looked up catalytic converter on wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalytic_converter I havn't read it properly yet, jut skimmed it. Doesn't say anything about the LEGAL situation in Australia about LPG & cats, but it does talk about the TECHNICAL situation that cat converters can reduce harmful emissions on LPG etc.. and diesel too. Interesting. Perhaps having a cat on LPG is a good idea. And risk of getting a fine is nil. ps. And try not to breathe exhaust fumes whenever you can, but especially at start-up. Those fumes coming out whilst the cat has not heated up to operating temp are TOXIC. More toxic than normal exhaust. Stay away.

So yes it may be correct but there is no way it is evaluated as correct. Enough of my rant

are you just ranting about wiki, or do you have a problem with what the wiki said?? if the latter, why don't you amend the wiki, and REVIEW it...
or otherwise contribute something else to the discussion... lpg and cat converters.

I think what obsession is getting at is dont take wikipedia as gospel. Much better off contacting the relevant authorities in your state

BTW if it were a peer reviewed journal it would have been checked over by people that had more letters after their name than me, my 3 sets of letter just wont cut it lol dont poke the bear. IF YOU RUN WITHOUT A CAT ITS YOUR OWN f**k FAULT IF YOU GET CAUGHT AND FINED A f**k

oh and pre 86 cars did not have catalytic converters fitted as standard.
that was the year they were made mandatory to be fitted, as was why my GN sigma had one fitted. (restrictive bastard)

The NSW perspective:
http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/ ... /vsi14.pdf Quote: Usually, no re-testing of engine exhaust emissions is required for LPG conversions if a vehicle is
intended to operate primarily on LPG. However, catalytic converters and associated emission and engine control systems of any vehicle originally operating on unleaded petrol must remain operational. Prob worth double checking your state's guidance...

Retallick. here is the link http://www.google.com/patents?hl=en&lr= ... +converter it also has 2 pages of references which shows its been used in many a journal. enjoy reading

thanks for the link
it took me to a patent summary of a cat converter and it had two pages of other patents which reference the cat converter patent - didn't say anything about lpg that i could see here's one i found too http://www.p2pays.org/ref/38/37646.pdf it's looks like a study where they are determining whether an lpg fitted car will meet emissions guidelines (which country i don't know). the results suggest it did. what we need is the reverse kind of study, where they are testing on an lpg car, without cat. but i'm having trouble finding any. anyway this is getting tiresome - i reckon they should put the f*cker back on
