have a xr6 el has no power only 85,000km have check spark and fuel also checked ignition and cam timming anybody have any ideas

i also checked for plugged exhaust

yes revs freely no probs

whats the compression like?
when u say no power how much is it lacking is it manual

yes it is a manual and the compression is well within spec

no top end you would think it had s**t loads of ks and beaten to s**t

very sure took it off today and it look clear through and i dont know what i havent checked hoping some could tell me by the way i have been a mechanis for 15 years so i dont think i missed much

If you're lacking power in the top end range, I would suggest starvation..?

ie clogged injectors, fuel filter, you checked spark plugs, leads? also maybe the coil is on the way out? I doubt it at 85,000 but who knows. Also your air filter, and throttle body?


Just some things to check.

thanks will check them but the coil was just replaced month back it had ano start problem also it is not a new prob friend bouht the car 6 months ago just got to take it for a spin and relised it was gutless he thought ok but it is s**t

have u checked timing when reving engine, i dont know maybe u have missed some thing. what about fuel pressure

Also might be worthwhile reseting the ECU... maybe it learnt something bad, or who knows what.. something free and easy to do.. just in case.
