well he i am again guna pic someones brain , 2001 au ll auto, been fab hasnt lett me down ..... untill today walkd out jumped in to start it tturnd over startd rough an died, now wont turn over at all its like no power to starter,the volt meter in the dash dont move wen im turn key to start, ive got plenty of power in batt. ive tryd in nuteral. i un plug the batt for an hr didnt do nothin either xcept f..k radio (no code lol) anyone had this happin

get a seperate voltmeter and attach to ur battery to double check coz it sounds like it could be something else. Check: if you hear the fuel pump prime? if there is spark goin to the leads/plugs? could be a fuel or spark problem so give them a check mate

i can here fuel pump prime, its just like wen u try start an auto in gear am thinking abt the inhibertor switch

yeah could be mate, but check if there is spark at the leads, by pulling a lead off a spark plug and chuckin a screwdriver (rubber handle) in the lead and crankin the engine, if no spark then thats ur problem. See how that goes mate but u culd b right 2, or even culd b the engine fuse (doubt it)?

cant check spark ,as problem is starter wont turn over to start car to check if has spark.

just goin from my experience with my car neway, ive had no starters ranging from engine fuses to coils to the shifter sitting slightly off park. funny cars these e-series always keep u on ur feet, good 2 see the au's are keeping up haha.

Ahh you don't achieve spark until the car cranks. so testing for spark on a car thats not cranking is pointless. Could be a cactus battery, ie enough to run the fuel pump and what not but the starter actually takes a fair bit of draw. you may hear it go click click click, or nothing at all. If you can get a jump and it fires thats a pretty solid sign of a f**k battery. could also be the solenoid on the starter itself, get under there and give it a bit of motivation with the form of a lead hammer or similar. if its the solenoid there is a good chance this will give it a touch of extra life, if so I would be getting a BF starter and putting that in pretty quick. Starter failing to kick are one of few things. Battery not enough charge starter is cactus or on its way to being cactus fuse has popped break down in the wiring somewhere. check the first 3 things before moving on to the wiring side of it all. if these all appear fine, time to start looking at the smartsheild on the car. BEM's can get dry joints. not 100% sure where they are in the AU's, but it would not be the first time I have seen a BEM of any series being the culprit.

ok cool ill check out , so a bf falcon starter is way to go if its f..kd are there better than au. wen i try an start im lookin a my volt meter as my au has blue tickford cluster an it dont move like i would expect wen key turned to star. seems like no drain wen key start. but im guna check wat u said . cheers

yeah BF starter is smaller and provides more torque, same or similar price to an AU start.
Throw a multimeter on your battery to eliminate that issue as well. and see if a few love taps on your existing starter spur it into any life.

ok so ive tryd fuses they ok, i stuck a screwdriver on starter an it cranked over with good power,i took off inhibator swicth an clean an wd4 shaft. so i think all is next is look at ign .

ok ive unpluged the ign , jumped a wire from one hole to another hole an got reds, but cant seem to get starter any ideas

ok well igot under car an tryd srewdriver an was cranking an cranking but no fire up now . holly f..k. how do a car go from runnig sweet an over nite turn into peice of s**t lol

it sounds like it could ba an ignition switch or a body control module/smartshield issue..

ok so how or where i find that is it something easy to find/fix. dosnt the body control module just do things like doors lock an power wwindows an suff like that ,not the starter or trans or ign ?????
