hey guys got a little problem but dont know what it is. its a noise coming from under the rocker cover only when u put the revs up between 1300 to 1600 then anymore than 1600 revs the noise is gone doesnt make it anymore. just wondering what does a dead lifter sound like?

sounds like your timing chain, is it a grinding rattle noise? right at the front of the rocker?
could be worn guides, but if you have done the head and cam youll most likely have to live with it for good...

yeah i rebuilt the whole motor a few months ago and it did it before that but its louder now but its not a rattle noise. but if i give it a hard run it doesnt make it?

A dead lifter will sound like a loud ticking noise, rev your car from inside the engine bay and describe to us where its coming from and what it actually sounds like...

its definitely coming from the front of the rocker cover the noise

broken timing chain guide i would say
but you say you rebuilt the engine maybe you broke it when you put the head on |

pull the rocker cover off and run it for a few seconds at idle. may be easier to diagnose the noise. ps dont rev it unless u want to do some cleaning.

im pretty sure i didnt break it when i put the head but im getting at look at this week. got a bit of fuel usage problem a full tank only done 259ks and its already down to a quarter mark.

the engine noise is definitly coming from the timing chain somewhere.
