I've got a 6cyl EB, my question is, do they have lifters? or lash adjusters?

mine are on the way out, and mechanic says that one sounds like its 'collapsed'... ive got a mate giving me a hand at replacing all 12.. so im curious, do i have lifters? or just lash adjusters?

Second question, my mechanic recommended i dont fix the lifters until i put my new cam in. Is there a reason for this? should i be wary?

Cheers, Dave

yes your car does have lifter, hydraulic lifters at that! :P

Only reason he says this is because its going to save you having to pull the rocker gear off twice instead of in the one go, the lifters are pretty simple to change, just take the retainer clip off then slide her out.... all 12.... another reason he may say this is because if 1 lifter has failed, this may cause wear on your new camshaft maybe?

ah, but then im replacing all 12, so wouldnt that mean it would be BETTER for the cam? :P besides, he knew i wasnt getting him to install it... so the gear would have to come out again anyway when i get him to do the lifters :p

Anyway, costing me $250 from a mate... he gets parts wholesale, and charging $100 for labor...

I paid $330 to have 12 new lifters installed by my mechanic, he also re-shimmed my rocker arms to suit my cam as the guy I bought the rocker gear off had used washers from bunnings. :S
