What company reground the cam? Are you sure the rockers have been shimmed according to the amount taken off the cam? The clearances could be a little excessive causing a bit of valvetrain noise. Maybe get the clearances checked to make sure they are within the factory tolerances and go from there.
Just a thought anyways. |

well if your valve guides are good? and the lifters are new or near new? and your sure its shimed right?
i would be questioning the cam?? did it have noisy lifters before you change the cam??? |

well i had noisy lifters before the cam went in, then i bought brand new lifters and put the new cam in at the same time and its been ticking ever since.
its a cresent motors cam, and was installed by the workshop, so im fairly certain they would have put two shims in as required and supplied. |

Lifters P*** me off no matter what i did, ive always had a slight noise thier.. Even when i had the rebuilt engine done on the XR everything was all new and reco'd and 25,000kms later i have noisey lifters.. Grrr.

my ED engine had lifter noise for ages till I recently pulled out the XR cam and put the factory one back in.. I stripped and cleaned the lifters while I was putting it back together. I few of them were gummed up and stuck....
After about 30 minutes of driving around they are silent now. perhaps it's time you pulled them out and checked to see if any are stuck.. Also before you do that, put a big screwdriver on the tappet cover up and down the head and put your ear to the other one.. try to get an idea which ones are making the most noise. rgds Frank |
