hi all just replaced headgasket and have had the engine running foir about 3 or so minutes havnt changed the oil or filter yet but i have noticed i can hear a noisy tappet ive never had a noisy tappet in this car beofre will this go away when i change the oil and filter tommorow?

usually takes awhile for it to go away it will be still there after the oil change but will be gone soon.

what causes it was worrying me i thought i might need a new set of tappets or i had done something wrong

did the same on mine after a head off if u soak them in oil while the head is off its not so bad but they just need a little more oil thought them. i put 2 new ones in there and takes about a hour of driving for them to stop the noise i was worried i have to replace the lot but the noise is gone now

i havnt put any new ones in do u think the noise will still go away also do u have to take the whole head off to replace them or can u do just by taking the rocker cover off and how much did you pay for two new tappets?

yer to of my where f**k they fell apart when i pulled the rocker gear off they cost $10 each so $120 for the lot but the old ones should be fine do a oil and filter change 1st if its still nosiy after a week replace the hydraulic lifters (tappet) ur tappet cover and rocker gear come off to replace the lifters

oh ok thats cheap as wa sthat for brand new ones? so u dont have to take the head off?

thank f**k for that lol it was a pain the a*** were did u get em from sorry for all the questions just preparing myself incase worst comes to worst but im sure they will be fine after oil change
