Hey all. I have an EA fairmont Ghia as my second car. Driving it the other day I noticed the tappet noise had gone off its head. Thought i may have broken a rocker arm or tappet. Maybe even a valve spring. So i take the rocker cover off and to my shock everything looks fine in there. nothing broken at all. The car still runs the same and blows no smoke and doesnt get any hotter than normal, but the noise is extreme. Im at a lose and would appreciate any help that can be given.

Cheers

hey Adam ...

Yeah, as above, You won't need a new motor lol , lifter noise is quite common on these motor's esp the older 3.9 motor, If it happened (as you said to me on the phone yesterday) and it happening after you went around a corner, I'd say that your low on oil, and that the oil pump has not picked up enough oil to flow around the lifters, I'd be replacing the oil with a slightly thicker oil, (everyone else here I deal with this person on the phone and know the a lot about his motor) .. try maybe penrite HRP 30 .. And also, some "nulon lifter fix" maybe .

See how you go, and let us know!!!
